Hmm.  Well, by the same token, FIXPath could be thought to have a relationship 
to FIXPtr:

And "NG" is a really common geek construction for "some improved system over a 
predecessor".  Just off head I can think of:

* Cowan's AFNG
* stng in the Python/Zope community
* HTTP-NG from the W3C.

None of these have anything to do with RELAX NG, and I've never heard of 
anyone mistakenly thinking such was the case.

I think any such confusion can be very simply refuted:

"Nope.  sorry.  XPath NG has no relationship with RELAX NG.  Next question?"

I don't really see it as a matter for significant confusion or worry.

But anyway, here are the proposals on the table:

1) "FIXPath" as the core spec of "XPath NG"
2) "FIXPath Core" as the core spec of "FIXPath"
